Princeton, Illinois

The city of Princeton, located in the heart of Bureau County, is a fine place to live, work, raise a family and even retire. Princeton is ideally located adjacent to Interstate 80, and offers all the accommodations, services and amenities that residents, businesses, and travelers need. After you've shopped and eaten, take a leisurely stroll down our many tree-lined brick streets and enjoy our rich architectural heritage. See beautiful homes in the Prairie, Gothic Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne and other styles, several of which are on the National Register of Historic Places.

If you are a fan of theater, plan on being in Princeton in July and early August for Festival 56, Illinois' largest summer theater festival. Due to its success, Festival 56 has expanded to year round entertainment including Broadway musicals, contemporary drama, American literary classics and FREE Shakespeare in our parks during the summer.

Princeton's city parks and impressive recreational facilities are settings for a wide range of activities. Visitors soon find there is a quality of life here that few communities can share.

Princeton's commitment to education is reflected in Princeton and the surrounding area's excellent schools. Princeton area schools feature extensive facilities, diverse curriculums and well-trained staffs -- all aimed at developing each young person's full potential.

The Princeton public school curriculum is designed to challenge students at all levels, various special education programs and pre-schools capably serve community needs. Nearby Illinois Valley Community College offers a host of educational opportunities for young adults and adults, including evening courses. IVCC also offers specialized training services.

Health related services come with state-of the-art technology at Perry Memorial Hospital a modern medical care center licensed by the State of Illinois. The Bureau County Health Department provides a wide range of valuable services. Physicians, optometrists, chiropractors, dentists and other health related professional services are in good supply. Hospice providers are also available.

Princeton considers itself fortunate to have a number of quality nursing and healthcare facilities to choose from.
